Adopt Freya (Vermittlungshilfe)

Female · Young · 3 years

Name Freya Born around November 2023 Gender (female), neutered Breed Cat Size Freya lives on a foster home in Mainz. She will not be rehomed through our organization. Contact via www.Kreta-pfoetchen.de The ages mentioned here are often estimates, as we do not always know the exact age. Other details like size are subjective. Tests: FiV/FeLV negative Vaccinations: fully vaccinated Self-assured, allows being stroked, but is not an easy-to-handle cuddly cat, requires experienced cat owners Freya has a strong personality and has so far avoided close contact. She was rehomed with another cat, Alex, but Alex is now on his own path in the new home, and Freya needs an experienced cat owner's home. Sometimes she allows a quick stroke, which she enjoys. When she is done being stroked, she may swat with her paw. With time and patience, she will surely build trust and give her heart. She is not afraid, social, and plays with other cats, but does not tolerate anything. If she wants Alex’s food, she will also swipe at him and he will go away. She was also outside for a day, but did not want to come back in, even with snow. With a trick, she was caught again. She would like to have free roam, but one must be very careful here. Dogs do not scare her, but she does not want contact. Children should be sensible and already older. Freya should be placed in a home with cat experience. With free roam after an adjustment phase. For more information, please fill out the Referral Form or contact us at the phone number provided. Here are a few pictures. For a larger view, please click on an image. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Freya (Vermittlungshilfe)

What life with Freya (Vermittlungshilfe) looks like

Freya (Vermittlungshilfe) is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Freya (Vermittlungshilfe), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Freya (Vermittlungshilfe)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Freya (Vermittlungshilfe) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Freya (Vermittlungshilfe) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Freya (Vermittlungshilfe) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Freya (Vermittlungshilfe) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Freya (Vermittlungshilfe) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
