Xira

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

Frida, an energetic spark who is looking for her human! She has huge energy reserves, infinite curiosity about the world, and a heart ready to love a new family! Frida needs a moment to feel confident. Before she gets to know a new place, she can bark loudly due to the excess of emotions, but it takes her human's support to move on to exploring the area with curiosity. She gets along with other dogs, but can be possessive about her "treasures" - when she thinks something belongs to her, she can scare off a friend with her teeth. This is a delicate issue that needs to be worked on calmly. She tolerates cats - she follows them with great curiosity and gently sniffs them, but she doesn't chase them. In the temporary home where she currently stays, she mainly runs loose in the yard and fantastically keeps an eye on her human. On safe walks without a leash, she also doesn't stray too far. She is learning to work on a leash and is getting better! Driving in a car is no problem for her, new sounds or unfamiliar objects don't bother her. She quickly learns that she needs to go to the bathroom outside, but like any puppy, she doesn't have a fully developed bladder yet and if left alone for too long, she may still make a surprise in the house. Frida can live with other pets or be an only child. She will be a wonderful companion for a family that is ready for the lively, but also somewhat crazy and chaotic puppy energy. Like any puppy, she may sometimes destroy something, nibble on hands or make a mess on the carpet. The owner must show her the world wisely and gently, work on her possessiveness about resources and walking on a leash. Frida is a smart, friendly and obedient female dog who will grow into a wonderful, balanced dog in the right hands.

Xira, to energiczna iskierka, która szuka swojego człowieka! Posiada ogromne zasoby energii, nieskończoną ciekawość świata i serce gotowe do pokochania nowej rodziny! Xira potrzebuje chwili, by poczuć się pewnie. Zanim pozna nowe miejsce, z nadmiaru emocji potrafi donośnie poszczekać, jednak wystarczy jej wsparcie człowieka, by chwilę później z zaciekawieniem ruszyć na eksplorację terenu.

About Xira

What life with Xira looks like

Xira is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Słupsku in Poland.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Xira, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Xira?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Słupsku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Xira on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Xira if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Słupsku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Xira already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Xira isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Słupsku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Xira and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
