Frida

Podenco · Female · Young · 2 years

Name: Frida. Breed: Podenco Canario. Age: approx. 2 years. Health: Vaccinated, microchipped, spayed. Location: Königsdorf (district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen). Frida originally comes from Gran Canaria. We lived there for several years and took her in two years ago to save her from the killing station. She’s not a holiday souvenir—since then, she’s become a beloved member of our family. Frida is a sweet, sensitive, and people-oriented dog. Once she’s gained trust, she loves to cuddle and forms a close bond with her humans. She gets along well with children and other dogs. She is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and has an EU pet passport. Frida suffers from separation anxiety and currently cannot be left alone. Additionally, as is typical for her breed, she has a strong hunting instinct. Therefore, we’re looking for a calm home with people who can provide her with the patience, understanding, and ample time she needs to feel safe and secure. With a heavy heart, we’ve decided that we must find a new home for Frida. Even before we returned to Germany, we tried to find a suitable placement for her. Since our arrival, we’ve been actively searching for a solution and have contacted numerous animal shelters, animal welfare organizations, and adoption agencies—but unfortunately, so far without success. Our situation has now become very urgent, which is why we sincerely hope that through your platform, Frida will find the people who would like to give her a loving forever home. Of course, we’ll only place Frida in responsible hands. All of her belongings—including her large travel crate, leashes, harnesses, and other accessories—will be provided. If you have any questions or would like to meet her in person, I’m always happy to help. Contact: Tonia Wolff, Königsdorf (district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen). Tel.: [Phone number withheld]. Email: [Email address withheld].

About Frida

What life with Frida looks like

Frida is a large young adult podenco dog waiting at Hundesuche Tiere in Not Bayern in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Frida, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Frida?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundesuche Tiere in Not Bayern handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Frida on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Frida if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundesuche Tiere in Not Bayern will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Frida already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Frida isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundesuche Tiere in Not Bayern early rather than rehoming privately; they know Frida and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
