adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Fritz has found his forever home! His story: Here comes Wuschelpelz Fritz to win your heart! Fritz is a ca. 2 years young, medium-sized male dog with an estimated weight of 17 kg, who conquers hearts with his fluffy fur and gentle gaze. Currently, he lives in a foster home in Cluj and is eagerly waiting to find his own family. At first, Fritz is a bit shy, but if given a little time, he shows his loving and relaxed side. He loves being stroked, is already quite familiar with the leash, and proves every day what a treasure he is. Fritz gets along well with other dogs, but his compatibility with cats has not yet been tested. Originally found on the roadside, since then he has developed greatly and is ready for a new chapter in his life. His new family should be aware that Fritz is still unfamiliar with life in a loving family. He still needs to learn the whole dog ABC and it is likely that puberty is in full swing. Here, he needs people who approach with love and patience, and possibly also attend some positively working dog training classes with him and forgive him one or two mishaps. Leash handling, house training, and being alone are still foreign words to him. During puberty, he will certainly test boundaries and perhaps even forget some things he has learned. But once this phase is overcome, he will definitely make a great life partner. The shy Fritz travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He possesses an EU pet passport and would be very happy to stay with a foster home. Are you ready to give this fluffy treasure a dog bed and your heart? Many thanks to Monika V. for the wonderful name and the chance for Fritz to have a new life! As of: 13.12.

Stand: 13.12.2024

About Fritz

What life with Fritz looks like

Fritz is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fritz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fritz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fritz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fritz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fritz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fritz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fritz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
