adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this cat! Fritz has found a home! His story: The rescue story of Fritz began in an unexpected way: A neighbor picked up what they thought was a female cat from the street and asked for help with neutering. When the helper arrived, it turned out that the shy newcomer was not only a tomcat but also already neutered! Curious about his origins, people in the neighborhood got to know him, but no one knew him. He had appeared a few weeks earlier, a stray without a home, but with an impressive calm personality. His gentle eyes and laid-back, independent nature made it clear right away: Fritz must not be sent back to the street! Since then, Fritz has shown himself to be an incredibly lovable character. He is gentle, smart, very friendly, and balanced: one who immediately touches the heart! He loves quiet moments, observes with interest, and chooses his people in a quiet, unobtrusive way. In general, Fritz gets along well with other cats, but likes to retreat when he wants his peace. Fritz also feels much more comfortable in the safe four walls than outside and can do without the freedom. Occasionally, a slightly raspy breathing sound can be heard from Fritz. It does not always occur and does not bother him at all. He was examined by a veterinarian, received a Prednisone treatment that greatly improved his breathing, and the lung is completely unremarkable on the X-ray. It is likely a consequence of an older, untreated respiratory infection, something very typical for former street cats. However, this does not play a role in his well-being and joy in life! Fritz is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and tested negative for FIV and FeLV. He also has an EU pet passport and is now ready to travel to his new home. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Fritz

What life with Fritz looks like

Fritz is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fritz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fritz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fritz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fritz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fritz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fritz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fritz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
