Fritz

Male · Adult · 4 years

Our little Terrier-Mix Fritz is waiting for people who are looking for a lively little whirlwind. Fritz loves people above all else and would most like to be right in the middle of everything. He meets new people openly and friendly, and enjoys every bit of attention. With his funny, charming nature, he quickly brings joy and regularly puts a smile on your face. The little guy is full of energy and enthusiasm. As Fritz hasn't had the chance to get to know many things yet, he sometimes reacts a bit over-the-top and stormy. He must learn to really get to know many everyday things and to be able to calm down. With loving consistency, patience, and clear rules, he will surely develop into a great companion. Of course, a typical Terrier also brings a good portion of character with it. Terriers are often very intelligent, active, and independent dogs. They were originally bred to work independently and make decisions – so they often question rules as well. Fritz is attentive, curious, and quickly enthusiastic, but can also react impulsively and with temperament. He needs people who enjoy working with him, who give him security, and who at the same time set clear boundaries. For Fritz, consistency does not mean strictness, but fair rules and a quiet, reliable everyday life. It is also important to mentally challenge him, because a Terrier not only wants to be physically occupied, but also to use its brain. With other dogs, Fritz decides based on sympathy. Especially with his trusted people, he would like to enjoy the full attention and sometimes reacts jealously towards other dogs. Then he also tries to eliminate competition – quite in the spirit of: "My person belongs to me." Due to his stormy nature and his typical terrier temperament, potential dog contacts should be well supervised. Cats should not live in the new home. Fritz came to us at the animal shelter due to an allergy of his owner and hopes to soon be part of a family again – with people who love his lively nature and have the desire to go through life with him. Do you think you are the right person for Fritz or would you like to get to know him better?

About Fritz

What life with Fritz looks like

Fritz is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Tierschutzverein für Tirol in Innsbruck.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fritz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fritz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein für Tirol handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fritz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fritz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein für Tirol will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fritz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fritz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein für Tirol early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fritz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
