Frodo

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Frodo has found his people! His story: Frodo traveled to a foster home in Hamburg in mid-July. There, he has already settled in well in a short time. Frodo has been house-trained since the beginning and enjoys going for walks. He is very adaptable and can already walk calmly and relaxed on a leash. Frodo gets along well with the urban environment and has no issues with the new sounds either. At home, Frodo loves to lie comfortably on his spot or the sofa, take a long nap, or receive lots of cuddles. However, Frodo is not at all pushy. He calms down wonderfully and can relax even when his primary caregiver leaves the room. Being alone for short periods has also been without problems. Frodo knows cats and can also relax more in their presence over time. Nevertheless, a home without cats would be preferable in the long term for him. Frodo shows his calm nature but also increasingly his active and playful side. While he doesn't need toys, playing around with something in the house with his foster mom makes him very happy. With a shoulder height of about 50 cm, Frodo is a medium-sized dog. He has soft brown-black fur and with his friendly gaze from his deep brown eyes, he is a particularly handsome dog. Frodo is about 6 years old and thus in the best dog years. He fits perfectly into any dog-loving family. Unfortunately, Frodo has a shortened tail and therefore cannot be rehomed to Switzerland. Frodo is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated and has an EU pet passport. Frodo tested positive for Anaplasmosis, which has already been treated and does not restrict him in any way. He is currently available. Many thanks to Silvie S, who gave Frodo his name and thus a personal identity. Frodo means 'the Happy One' – that fits perfectly! Available as of 28.07.

Er passt also wunderbar in jede tierliebe Familie. Stand: 28.07.2024

About Frodo

What life with Frodo looks like

Frodo is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Frodo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Frodo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Frodo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Frodo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Frodo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Frodo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Frodo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
