GAIA

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

Rescued from abandonment, GAIA lives with us at our shelter, but is kept apart from everyone as she is positive for immune issues. Until now, she lived with her soulmate, Summer, but unfortunately Summer has passed away, and GAIA is all alone. She needs to find a home because she is a very affectionate kitten who needs company. GAIA is all sweetness, a super calm, noble, and very affectionate kitten. She loves being pampered and immediately plays happily with you, content to be accompanied. She is currently in treatment and under observation. Her eyes are affected, so she needs to be cared for with hygiene and eye drops. Despite her illness, GAIA is a very pampered and playful kitten. She is dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for Feline Leukaemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), spayed, with a health card, and adoption contract.

About GAIA

What life with GAIA looks like

GAIA is an adult mixed breed cat waiting at ACUNR - Animales Con Un Nuevo Rumbo in Spain.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee. Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting GAIA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about GAIA?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ACUNR - Animales Con Un Nuevo Rumbo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw GAIA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt GAIA if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ACUNR - Animales Con Un Nuevo Rumbo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is GAIA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if GAIA isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ACUNR - Animales Con Un Nuevo Rumbo early rather than rehoming privately; they know GAIA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
