Adopt Gaia (vermittelt)

Female · Puppy · 5 months

In the provided data, the ages are often estimated values as we don't always know the exact age. Other details like size are subjective. Gaia Born November 2017, Female, Mix Breed, Small and staying in foster home. The little Gaia has found her home. We wish her and her new family all the best and a great time together. Hilde was one of the first puppies that were allowed to travel and luckily found a great home. This little family was picked up by animal rescuers on Crete. Fortunately, help was found quickly, and they could move into a foster home… it's now also winter on Crete, it rains a lot, and temperatures are dropping to zero—-the little ones wouldn't have survived long. There are 5 puppies (3 boys and 2 girls), around 1.5 months old and staying small… all have been seen by the vet and received their first vaccination. The mom, Zoeye, tested negative for leishmaniasis. As the puppies are already eating on their own, Zoeye will be neutered as soon as possible and then ready to travel. The puppies are expected to be travel-ready by the end of March. Maybe someone will fall in love at first sight ;)???? Then get to the keyboard as soon as possible!!! Foster Home Report May I introduce our foster baby, Gaia. She is now about 2 weeks here and slowly settling in. Gaia is about 4 months old and is slowly approaching the 3kg mark. She lives with 4 children, two dogs, and cats. Our dogs have almost immediately accepted her and let her use them as pillows or playmates. In return, Gaia is learning how to use the garden for potty breaks… we are practicing this diligently! Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't… which is partly due to the cold weather and the strong wind making it difficult for Gaia to go outside. She is an extreme cuddle mouse and would rather be on someone's lap all day and be stroked. By the way, she has a big appetite. Here are a few pictures. Click an image to enlarge.

About Gaia (vermittelt)

What life with Gaia (vermittelt) looks like

Gaia (vermittelt) is a small puppy/kitten dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gaia (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gaia (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gaia (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gaia (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gaia (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gaia (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gaia (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
