Gaja

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Gaja – an active female dog is looking for a home! Gaja is about 2.5 years old (weighing 23kg) and is a beautiful hound type dog. She has been at the animal shelter for half a year, which has unfortunately been a very difficult place for her. This energetic and intelligent female dog loves long walks and the opportunity to explore the grounds (she loves to sniff around!). During her walks, she passes by other dogs barking behind the fence, setting a perfect example. Gaja has a huge need for activity, loves car rides, and very much wants to "go out into the world." Unfortunately, the shelter reality, noise, and barking dogs strongly frustrate and excite her, making her sometimes uneasy. Gaja strongly bonds with people she knows well, but she needs time to trust someone. That's why we warmly invite you to go on getting-to-know-you walks with her. If you dream of an active, beautiful canine companion and are ready to build a special bond with her – Gaja is waiting for you!

Gaja – aktywna suczka szuka domu!

About Gaja

What life with Gaja looks like

Gaja is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gaja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gaja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gaja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gaja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gaja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gaja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gaja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
