Garona

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Garona has found her home! Her story: A female dog with an unusual name and unique appearance wants to finally find people who will love her unconditionally. At one of our spay/neuter campaigns, Garona was simply not picked up. Now she lives together with other dogs in a Romanian foster home and shows everyone what a great female dog she is. Garona is very gentle with a moderate energy level. She shows friendliness and playfulness towards her fellow animals. She also gets along well with cats. She likes people, whether big or small. A true all-rounder, then. With her 40 cm height, she also has a nice size to be everywhere. From her appearance, it could be a Pekingese mix. Her long, fluffy ears that frame her entire face are a special feature. Her underbite and the scruffy fur give her a slightly wild but definitely unique look. Garona is looking for people who will not have any expectations of her at first and will let her come in peace. We do not know whether she already masters dog 1×1, including house training and being alone. But that will definitely be something you will discover together. Garona is looking forward to beautiful walks, many cuddle hours, and maybe even a visit to a dog training class. Childhood and puberty are behind her, but at 5 years old, she still has a long dog life ahead, which she would like to spend in love and security with her favorite people. Garona is ready, when you are. She can start her great journey at any time. Garona travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, with her EU pet passport in her luggage. But also a foster home would be a good start in a new life. Thank you, Emi L.! You gave Garona her unusual name and thus her identity. As of: 25.05.

Eine echte Allrounderin also. Stand: 25.05.2025

About Garona

What life with Garona looks like

Garona is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Garona, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Garona?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Garona on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Garona if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Garona already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Garona isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Garona and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
