GatinoOplus_16908288 Name: Gatino Birthdate: 01.05.2025 Gender: Male Breed: EKH Farberot getigert mit weiß Country of Origin: Spain (Orihuela) Location: Animal Shelter Orihuela Character/Temperament: Open, sociable, loving, playful, affectionate, very cuddly, very social, submissive, a sweet little ball Waiting since: 13.07.2025 Family-friendly: Yes Compatible with other cats: Yes Compatible with dogs: No Neutered: Yes Diseases/Handicaps: Right hind leg is stiff FIV/Leukose tested: Leukose and FIV negative Video of Gatino and Marimba's disability, unfortunately only a cat-safe fenced garden is a possibility Adoption Fee: €225.00 Contact: Sybille Rienmüller / Daniela van Rickel Description: Gatino was found meowing and all alone on the street. His right hind leg was stretched out and he couldn't bend it. The boy who found him took him to the vet. The vet determined that the reason for this condition was an old fracture. Surgery is not an option. The alternative would be amputation, but Gatino uses his stiff leg and gets along well with it. He can also move his foot and hip, he has feeling and mobility, so he has a certain functionality. The only thing is that he can't bend his knee. And since it doesn't bother him and he doesn't have any pain, it was left that way. The vet and Silvia decided clearly against amputation. Gatino is happy, he plays and frolics, runs up and down the scratching post - he can also lead a normal life with his stiff leg. (see video) Gatino is a super sweet, affectionate and very attached cat; he seeks human closeness, wants to be cuddled, and loves to be by their side and receive attention. He is very loving. He is very submissive and docile and gets along well with other cats. He also likes to lie with the other cats in the basket and groom them or take a nap. For Gatino, we are looking for a family that is looking for a fun and affectionate kitten... and accepts him with his disability. As already mentioned, Gatino lives a normal life and is also a happy cat with this condition. Gatino will never be placed as a single cat and not with dominant cats/cats. Big, loving children are very welcome. He doesn't like dogs. It should also be noted that cat children do not run around. They need affection, attention and care. They must be shown that they can trust and feel safe. And that's where playing and cuddling should not be too short. You should also have enough time to cuddle and cuddle. Gatino will not be placed as a pure indoor cat despite his disability. He should get free access to a cat-safe fenced garden. It should be a household where a cat flap is available or is still being installed. Gatino is FIV and Leukose tested, Rabies, Colds, Distemper and Leukose vaccinated, dewormed, chipped and neutered.

About Gatino

What life with Gatino looks like

Gatino is a young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierhilfe Anubis e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gatino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gatino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Anubis e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gatino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gatino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Anubis e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Gatino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gatino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Anubis e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gatino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
