George

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Male · Puppy · 6 months

by Jacqueline Freshfields | Jun 9, 2026 | Male, Farm Animals, Male, Wales Introducing George, the Welsh pig that was living in someone’s garden before coming to the rescue. His previous home loved him a lot but didn’t realise how big he would get! He’s only six months old and still has quite a bit of growing to do. We expect him to be a big boy. He is looking for a pet-only home, somewhere with lots of space for him to explore. He has lived with children, dogs and cats and is very friendly. If you think you can give the perfect home to George, please get in touch. Exclusive merchandise available direct from the rescue. Don’t miss out, follow the link to make your purchase today.

About George

What life with George looks like

George is a large puppy/kitten staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Freshfields Animal Rescue in Liverpool.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting George, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about George?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Freshfields Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw George on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt George if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Freshfields Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is George already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if George isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Freshfields Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know George and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
