Voici notre adorable GEORGES, un Beagle d’environ 3 ans et demi qui est malheureusement devenu presque totalement aveugle. Au mois d’octobre dernier, il a été trouvé derrière la pharmacie de Ste Thérèse à La Possession au fond d’un trou dans lequel il est tombé car il n’y voyait rien. Recueilli par la clinique Le Grand Banoir dans un premier temps, il a été soigné pour son ehrlichiose (maladie transmise par les tiques). Puis Anatole, vétérinaire au grand cœur, a contacté notre association et il est devenu Sauvadien. C’est Béatrice qui l’a sorti de la clinique . Il se trouve toujours chez elle en famille d’accueil et est bien choyé. Cette dernière nous dit de lui : “ A la maison, il a d’abord trouvé une super copine chien qui lui a redonné la joie de vivre et aussi des copains chats car Georges est un chien très cool avec tout le monde. Sauvade a décidé de lui donner toutes ses chances de recouvrer la vue au moins partiellement en le faisant bénéficier d’une consultation chez un ophtalmologue. Il a donc été décidé d’opérer les deux yeux de Georges pour lui retirer la cataracte causée par l’ehrlichiose. Après plusieurs semaines de convalescence et des centaines d’administration de collyres dans ses pauvres yeux douloureux, sa vue ne s’est malheureusement pas améliorée car la cornée est trop endommagée. Malgré tout, Georges reste un chien bien dans ses pattounes qui est très proche de l’humain. Georges est un chien très calme et obéissant. Véritable pot de colle avec l’humain, il est également très sociable avec les chiens, les chats et les enfants. Bref, il aime tout le monde. En balade, c’est un véritable chien de chasse. Il renifle partout et cherche à explorer. Il faut faire attention car il ne voit pas le danger arriver. Il se cogne souvent et cela lui arrive de tomber en contrebas. Quand il connaît le parcours, c’est plus facile pour lui mais jamais sans danger. Même s’il se débrouille très bien, il faut toujours faire preuve d’une grande vigilance car nous sommes ses yeux. Les endroits familiers sont donc préférables pour ses repères.
