Georgia

European Shorthair · Unknown · Adult · 5 years

Gender: Female, neutered Since in our shelter: 27.8.2025 Features: Not singly housed, gets along with all cats, requires free roam, also possible as a pure farm cat Character: cautious, reserved, fearful, shy The hard life of a street cat has certainly left its mark on this magical tiger cat. Born in the wild, it wasn't always as dreamy as one might imagine freedom. Georgia struggled just as much with food searches on cold winter days as with water searches on hot summer days. The life of a free-roaming street cat is far from romantic or perfect. Georgia had to learn that the hard way. More than one litter was raised in the wild, and more than one of her kittens were lost. But now, with her last litter, her troubles have come to an end. Georgia was secured with her last litter and came to us at the animal shelter. Currently, the pretty mouse is neutered, warm, and dry with daily food and sufficient water. She hasn't quite warmed up to us humans yet. But we are seen and tolerated as a food dispenser. Her heart must be won over first. Georgia doesn't want to starve again and doesn't want to have to fight for her survival alone on the street. That's why she's looking for a nice spot on a farm or as a companion to another cat. She likes other cats but doesn't want to live alone. Two of her last kittens are already reserved, but she can also be rehomed with her daughter Montana, who is a bit more outgoing. This wouldn't be necessary, though. Another cat that enjoys her company would be just as wonderful. Free roam outside is also essential. Life on a protected farm with regular meals would also be a good fit for the pretty mouse.

About Georgia

What life with Georgia looks like

Georgia is a medium-sized adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierschutz Eutin und Umgebung e.V. in Eutin.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Georgia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Georgia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Eutin und Umgebung e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Georgia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Georgia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Eutin und Umgebung e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Georgia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Georgia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Eutin und Umgebung e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Georgia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
