Gerda (Герда)

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 13 years

Kyiv and Kyiv region! When a dog lives on the street, she is noticed only by those who are not indifferent to her or those who she disturbs... Gerda is a wonderful dog, more than 10 years ago she was thrown out with a puppy under the sauna, the puppy we found a home for, but Gerda remained to serve under the sauna. She loved the caretakers very much, always diligently helped them do their work. An incredible intelligence and a wonderful gentle nature allowed Gerda to survive on the street with almost no negative experiences. She was a favorite of the children and residents of the building where she lived. But who will take care of a dog that everyone seems to know, yet there is no one who would take responsibility for her when she really needs help. So Gerda ended up with us... and later simply decided to stay with us. It's sad when you realize that an animal shelter is the only family for a dog who deserves her own home and the attention of a family. Estimated date of birth August 24, 2012. Vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, has a veterinary passport.

About Gerda (Герда)

What life with Gerda (Герда) looks like

Gerda (Герда) is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Happy Paw Kyiv Oblast in Ukraine.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gerda (Герда), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gerda (Герда)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Happy Paw Kyiv Oblast handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gerda (Герда) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gerda (Герда) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Happy Paw Kyiv Oblast will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gerda (Герда) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gerda (Герда) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Happy Paw Kyiv Oblast early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gerda (Герда) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (UK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
