Adopt Gerda (Герда)

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

GERDA. Once a small, frightened puppy... They threw her to the boys at the checkpoint. She ran under cars, not knowing where to go. I just couldn't pass by - I took her. And I did the right thing. I remember those nights... When I sat next to her and didn't know if she would make it to morning or not. She was completely tiny, exhausted. Probably, the enteritis had already begun then. But we stood up. We survived. Look at her now ❤️ Big, healthy, beautiful! She has even surpassed the Alabai in size 🙈 Spayed, with a full set of vaccinations and a vet passport. Joyful, active and very gentle. And now she needs the most important thing - a family. A family where there is a large, fenced yard, where she can run, play and be herself. I only give her to good conditions - in a kennel run or a decent doghouse. NO CHAINS! This beauty needs space and freedom. No small children - she is still a child herself, she might jump up in joy to play. Gerda is a great guard dog: she barks at strangers, but as soon as you say "it's for me" - and she is already cuddling and looking for attention. She dreams of being the favorite. She dreams of receiving attention not "a little for everyone", like with me, but rather personal love. Who will take her - will never regret. She is gentle. She is smart. She is incredible beautiful. Look into her eyes. Maybe this is your dog. 📞 - Svitlana We are waiting very much for our person.

About Gerda (Герда)

What life with Gerda (Герда) looks like

Gerda (Герда) is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Happy Paw Mykolaiv Oblast in Ukraine.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gerda (Герда), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gerda (Герда)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Happy Paw Mykolaiv Oblast handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gerda (Герда) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gerda (Герда) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Happy Paw Mykolaiv Oblast will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gerda (Герда) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gerda (Герда) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Happy Paw Mykolaiv Oblast early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gerda (Герда) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (UK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
