Adopt Gijs en Broer

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 3 years

Gijs en Broer are two neutered male cats around 3 years old. These two brothers were brought to us because their owner passed away. Both are big boys but with small hearts; they are gentle, rather quiet in nature, and find things exciting quickly. They also need time to adjust to a new home and new people. Once they get to know you, they really want to be petted and thoroughly enjoy it. At home, they weren't much; if you work all day every day, these gentlemen aren't suitable. They can get along well with older children but find younger children exciting and we advise against it. They are not accustomed to dogs or other cats. They should not go outside; they can be placed as indoor cats.

About Gijs en Broer

What life with Gijs en Broer looks like

Gijs en Broer is a small young adult mixed breed animal waiting at Stichting Dierenasiel Gorinchem in Netherlands.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Gijs en Broer far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gijs en Broer, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gijs en Broer?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Dierenasiel Gorinchem handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gijs en Broer on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gijs en Broer if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting Dierenasiel Gorinchem will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gijs en Broer already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gijs en Broer isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Dierenasiel Gorinchem early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gijs en Broer and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
