Giles

Syrian Hamster · Male · Baby

Name: Giles Species: Syrian Hamster Sex: Male Approx DOB : January 2026 Status : Available for adoption Giles is a very sweet boy who was surrendered due to his previous human going on holiday…! It was perhaps for the best as Giles is now able to enjoy exploring a suitably sized enclosure and has disovered his favourite thing ever – his wheel! Giles can be a little shy, though he is ok with calm and confident handling for health checks. He would thrive with an adopter willing to allow him time to settle, and take things at his own pace. He's active from around 9pm and spends most of the night running on his wheel. He also loves building a nice cosy nest inside his multichamber hide. He is currently enjoying Getzoo golden hamster food and would like to continue on something similar in his new home. Minimum housing requirements: 100cmx50cm enclosure with at least 6inches of safe substrate for burrowing, a multichamber hide, 28cm or larger wheel, large sand bath and plenty of enrichment. Adoption fee: Minimum donation of £30 – this helps towards covering the costs of caring for the animals we rescue & rehome. Includes changeover supply of food, plus some seed sprays/treats. About Giles

What life with Giles looks like

Giles is a large puppy/kitten syrian hamster animal waiting at Tiny Paws MCR in United Kingdom.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Giles far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Giles, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Giles?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiny Paws MCR handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Giles on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Giles if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiny Paws MCR will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Giles already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Giles isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiny Paws MCR early rather than rehoming privately; they know Giles and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
