Adopt Ginetto

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

In the early February days of 2026, a plea for help came from Sandra: A family had turned to her. The family had two older mixed-breed dogs as well as two puppies of different ages. And these dogs wanted to be rid of. Exact reasons were not given. But of course, we did not refuse. Since Sandra currently cannot take in any dogs, our partner Paola was willing to take in the dog family. So Gina, Giulio, Gelsomina, and the little one Ginetto landed with Paola in the rescue. Giulio and his daughter Gelsomina were housed in the large dog house. Mama Gina and her baby Ginetto moved into Paola and Pierpaolo's house, so they were under supervision. The dog family was – apart from baby Ginetto – in a state that could be described as "neglected." During our project tour, we got to know the little family ourselves. Giulio showed himself to be lively, friendly, and unreserved. His daughter Gelsomina, on the other hand, was very shy and cautious. Even though the dogs had human contact with their previous owners, it seems that Gelsomina did not have such good experiences. The new people were very suspicious to her. However, she was already familiar with the rescue worker and allowed herself to be picked up by her. Gelsomina will likely need some time in a new home before she builds trust. Mama Gina approached us unreservedly, enjoyed being stroked. She also had no problems with us paying attention to her baby Ginetto. The little one is a real golden little face. According to the previous owners, Giulio is the father, although the two do not resemble each other at all. Giulio and Gelsomina are already travel-ready and we want to take them with the next transport possibility to Germany so that they can find their new families here. Mama Gina should still stay with Ginetto for a while, who enjoys cuddling with Mama very much. It would be nice if both could start their journey to Germany at the same time in late April, because we do not want to leave any of them alone. Would you like to give Giulio, Gelsomina, Gina, or Ginetto the dream home with a close family connection forever? If you are currently looking for a new furry family member and are aware that adoption brings not only great joy but also a lot of work and great responsibility, we look forward to your message. We provide nationwide support.

About Ginetto

What life with Ginetto looks like

Ginetto is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ginetto, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ginetto?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ginetto on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ginetto if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ginetto already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ginetto isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ginetto and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
