Ginger

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Ginger is a delicate kitten whose life on the allotments has left many scars. We are unable to estimate her age, as her small body has gone through a lot – maybe 5 or 7 years old? Ginger came to Ekostróża as a sneezing wretch, squeezing into the corner of the cages – a bundle of thin, reddish misfortune with matted fur, big frightened golden eyes and a small runny pink nose. The veterinary team and volunteers sprang into action. The vets thoroughly examined Ginger. To find out why she was so thin, they tested her blood and feces, checked her belly and did an ultrasound. The persistent cold in the kitten worried them, so they did a rhinoscopy and flushed her nasal passages. A dental procedure was also necessary. The kitten had almost all her teeth broken, so the remaining roots were removed. What we know: Ginger has a food allergy, but she reacts well to rabbit food (she scratches herself after other foods); we also know that there's nothing more we can do about the sneezing and catarrh; we have eliminated infections, treated what could be treated. Now this is just her charm – a lovely red snot-nosed little one! Ginger has become beautiful thanks to good diet and treatment at Ekostróża and is ready to go out into the world to her home, where she will feel safe. The kitten is shy and delicate, but in a home, by the side of a loving person who gives her a sense of stability and allows her to get used to things in her own time, she will definitely become a great cat! When she feels more secure, she will return the love. Moreover, Ginger accepts other cats, is gentle and does not get into conflicts. We don't know if she was spayed (we didn't perform the operation, but the kitten didn't have a collar either). FIV and FeLV tests are negative, dewormed, vaccinated once against infectious diseases.

Ekipa lekarzy i wolontariuszy wkroczyła do akcji. Weterynarze gruntownie przebadali Ginger. By sprawdzić, dlaczego z niej taka chudzinka, zbadali krew i kał, sprawdzili brzuszek, zrobili USG. Niepokoił uporczywy katar u kotki, więc zrobili rinoskopię, przepłukali jamy nosowe. No i konieczny okazał się też zabieg stomatologiczny.

About Ginger

What life with Ginger looks like

Ginger is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Fundacja EkoStraż in Wrocław.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ginger, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ginger?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja EkoStraż handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ginger on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ginger if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja EkoStraż will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ginger already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ginger isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja EkoStraż early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ginger and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
