Ginny

Mixed Breed · Female

Ginny is a female German Shepherd born on January 10, 2020. She was found between two towns and came to us extremely underweight, but she is now slowly gaining strength and weight again. Ginny is a kind and intelligent dog who enjoys being close to people and tends to follow her humans around. She is very people-oriented and likes to be involved in whatever is happening around her. She is also good with other dogs and handles canine company well. Like many German Shepherds, Ginny is smart and observant, and she will do best with someone who understands the breed and can give her guidance, structure, and activity. Ginny is looking for an experienced owner who can continue helping her regain strength, confidence, and stability while giving her the active life that suits her. Spayed/Neutered: Yes Gender: Female Dogs: Friendly Cats: Unknown, can be tested prior to adoption trial Kids: Unknown, can be tested prior to adoption trial Current Situation: Currently in a foster home and looking for a forever family

About Ginny

What life with Ginny looks like

Ginny is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at FAPF Hungary in Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ginny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ginny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. FAPF Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ginny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ginny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — FAPF Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ginny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ginny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with FAPF Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ginny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
