All cats Giovanni und Romi Print Published: April 9, 2026 Breed: EKH Age: 2021 Gender: male + female neutered: yes Color: white-gray-tabby Giovanni, gray-tabby Romi husbandry: Free-roaming Giovanni und Romi were rehomed by us in 2022. Unfortunately, they returned to us due to the owner's health problems. They are absolutely wonderful, and we can't understand why this great pair is still with us. They are cuddly and definitely enrich life. There should be no children, fellow animals, or dogs in the home, though dogs are viewed more skeptically. They definitely have issues with other cats, so there should not be any in the household. The former owner describes them as follows: About Romi: She is very cuddly and immediately open to strangers. Accordingly, she can be quite clingy and demands petting and stroking, without being too pushy. She loves to sleep in bed and enjoys having her belly rubbed. Picking up Romi is no problem. Unfortunately, she loves food just as much as cuddling, which has made her relatively overweight. Hunger attacks, which can occur several times a day, are loudly communicated. Moreover, she is not too proud to eat Giovanni's "leftovers." Despite this, she spends a lot of time in the field hunting mice, especially in the summer. Her interactions with other, unfamiliar cats are difficult. She prefers to share her territory only with Giovanni. About Giovanni: Although he is significantly larger in build, he is initially skeptical of strangers. However, he only needs a moment to warm up and then becomes totally cuddly and trusting. He regularly demands cuddles and snuggles. During this, he also likes to nibble a bit. He can be picked up without any problems.

About Giovanni und Romi

What life with Giovanni und Romi looks like

Giovanni und Romi is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Alsfeld in Germany.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Giovanni und Romi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Giovanni und Romi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Alsfeld handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Giovanni und Romi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Giovanni und Romi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Alsfeld will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Giovanni und Romi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Giovanni und Romi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Alsfeld early rather than rehoming privately; they know Giovanni und Romi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
