Gizmo and Nemo

Mixed Breed Cat · Male · Adult · 7 years

Foster or Foster with view to adopt needed** Gizmo and Nemo are brothers who are looking for a home together and have come into our care after their owner became terminally ill. These lovely boys are total opposites in terms of character. Gizmo is outgoing and a bit needy, Nemo is shyer and easily overlooked. Both are sweet tempered and have a lot of love to give. We are looking for a indoor only foster home for them as they have both had to have extensive dental work and are struggling to recover in our cattery. They would also need to be the only pets in a quiet home without children as this is what they are accustomed to. We would love to home them on a short or long term foster basis so we can continue to monitor them and assess them with the help of a fosterer. They could then be adopted once they are feeling well enough. As the boys would be homed on a foster basis, we would provide all food, litter and equipment needed as well as cover any veterinary costs. For this reason, any potential fosterer would need to be within a reasonable driving distance to our Vets in Axminster and be able to transport the cats if needed.

About Gizmo and Nemo

What life with Gizmo and Nemo looks like

Gizmo and Nemo is an adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Ferne Animal Sanctuary in Chard.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gizmo and Nemo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gizmo and Nemo?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ferne Animal Sanctuary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gizmo and Nemo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gizmo and Nemo if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ferne Animal Sanctuary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Gizmo and Nemo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gizmo and Nemo isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ferne Animal Sanctuary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gizmo and Nemo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
