Gizmo ♂

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 1 year

Little Gizmo was thrown out onto the street in Bosnia. He sought comfort from a passerby, who kicked him away and shouted that he would go get his rifle to shoot him. Fortunately, someone else who cares about animals came along, took him in, and asked us to find a home for him. Gizmo was allowed to come along to the Netherlands and is enjoying it all very much. He can walk on a leash and off-leash. He loves car rides. An easygoing little dog. Gizmo was born around March 2025. He is 40 cm tall and weighs 12 kilos. He is sweet, cheerful, and playful. He gets along with other dogs and is a friend to everyone. He won't harm cats, but he would like to chase after them. He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, etc. Gizmo can be met at a foster family in Zwolle.

About Gizmo ♂

What life with Gizmo ♂ looks like

Gizmo ♂ is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at stichting Idemo in Netherlands.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gizmo ♂, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gizmo ♂?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. stichting Idemo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gizmo ♂ on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gizmo ♂ if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — stichting Idemo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Gizmo ♂ already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gizmo ♂ isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with stichting Idemo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gizmo ♂ and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
