GLÓRIA

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

An animal rescue association, Animais Sortudos de Évora, was not indifferent to the horrors of the war in Ukraine and decided to go to the border with Poland to rescue and save as many dogs as possible. The dogs came from different shelters in Kiev. The desperation was such that they agreed to send their animals away to avoid them dying under bombardments. We accepted to welcome 9 dogs, 9 war survivors, to the Cantinho da Milu. GLÓRIA is one of them. She is very scared at the shelter. She doesn't understand what is happening. There are too many changes in such a short time, too much stress. However, we can see that she is a very gentle dog, that despite her fear, she doesn't harm anyone. She gets along with all the other dogs. She is vaccinated, dewormed, spayed, and has a microchip. GLÓRIA deserves to be very happy. We will do our best to find her a good home where she won't hear any more bombs and screams, but only the sound of peace and love.

About GLÓRIA

What life with GLÓRIA looks like

GLÓRIA is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at O Cantinho da Milu in Lisbon.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: War trauma survivor, requires patience and understanding for anxiety and fear issues

🇵🇹Adopting from Portugal

Portuguese rescues coordinate extensively with European rescue networks for cross-border placements, especially for galgos and podencos. Sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID are standard. Adoption fees typically cover the full vet workup.

Frequently asked

Adopting GLÓRIA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about GLÓRIA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. O Cantinho da Milu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw GLÓRIA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt GLÓRIA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — O Cantinho da Milu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is GLÓRIA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if GLÓRIA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with O Cantinho da Milu early rather than rehoming privately; they know GLÓRIA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
