Adopt Gnocchi (m)

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 7 months

data-cycle-paused="true" data-cycle-prev="" data-cycle-next="" data-cycle-pager="" data-cycle-pager-template=" " data-cycle-speed="750" Gnocchi was born on the street in Romania in November 2019, ended up in a killing shelter, and was then taken to a private animal shelter. At seven months old, he was rehomed to Germany. Currently, he is a sturdy male dog measuring 60 cm and weighing 25 kg. His arrival in Germany didn't go well because he was completely overwhelmed by the situation in his new family and reacted with stress and aggression towards strangers. This left his family overwhelmed, and after just five days, he returned to a foster home where he has been for almost half a year. Gnocchi is now house-trained, leash-friendly, and gets along well with the mixed pack in the foster home, and he also remains problem-free when left alone at home with the pack for a few hours. In some situations, he is still a very insecure dog, but he explores his environment confidently and is not easily impressed by loud noises. He now trusts the people in his foster home. With strangers, he is still hesitant and very skeptical. Additionally, it is also difficult for him when strangers approach him, as he feels very threatened and responds by moving forward. At home, it was introduced that he goes into his crate when guests arrive, which he does willingly. Gnocchi can be a normal, playful, and lively young dog in a relaxed atmosphere. However, when he becomes overwhelmed, he may fall back into old behavioral patterns and find it hard to differentiate in the presence of familiar people. Gnocchi therefore needs very patient, confident, active, and problem-dog experienced people without children who understand his insecurities and can provide him with support and guidance. A confident second dog would also be beneficial, as he likes to orient himself towards a familiar dog. Gnocchi has learned a lot in the past months, but more training is needed for him to become more relaxed and calm. He is very trainable and attentive, and training with him is enjoyable. He is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and not yet neutered (currently has the spay chip) and is waiting in Nuremberg for a kind visitor who will treat him fairly. An in-depth getting-to-know-you period (multiple visits, walks, etc.) until the handover is essential to build trust with Gnocchi. Email:. Walks well on a leash.

Email:

About Gnocchi (m)

What life with Gnocchi (m) looks like

Gnocchi (m) is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gnocchi (m), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gnocchi (m)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gnocchi (m) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gnocchi (m) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gnocchi (m) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gnocchi (m) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gnocchi (m) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
