Adopt Gofri

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

A one animal rescuer lady asked one of our volunteers to help with temporary housing for a few foxes. The dog had to be taken from a place from which several small lives had already been rescued earlier. The little one arrived in terrible condition: full of fleas, fur completely matted, neglected. Initially very shy and distrustful. Since then, he has been groomed, received a parasite tablet, and now is clean and relaxed. He was named Gofri - a young male dog, about 2 years old, possibly a mix of bichon and maltese. He will soon get his chip, vaccinations, and be neutered. After the medical examinations, we will be able to tell more about his exact age. He enjoys playing with other dogs, is kind-hearted, but still a bit shy - needs time, patience, and lots of love. Can be seen in Tőzeggyármajor! Can be adopted after covering the costs. :10:07)

Egy civil állatmentő hölgy kérte az egyik önkéntesünk segítségét e szőrmók néhány napos elhelyezésére. A kutyust egy olyan helyről kellett elhozni, ahonnan már több kis életet is sikerült korábban kimenteni. A pici borzasztó állapotban érkezett: tele bolhával, a szőre teljesen összeállva, elhanyagolva. :10:07)

About Gofri

What life with Gofri looks like

Gofri is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Menedék Állatvédő Alapítvány in Hungary.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gofri, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gofri?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Menedék Állatvédő Alapítvány handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gofri on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gofri if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Menedék Állatvédő Alapítvány will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gofri already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gofri isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Menedék Állatvédő Alapítvány early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gofri and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
