Gola

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

Soft-hearted Hundeseele seeks a sensitive, animal-loving human soul. When we took in Gola in December 2013 with her pack from a Romanian animal shelter, it became clear that this soft-hearted Hundeseele had been subjected to cruelty by humans. Gola only allowed human proximity because she associated it with receiving food and water. In the first months with us, enjoying human proximity was not even a thought. Over the past four years at Gnadenhof, the approximately 10-year-old, reserved Softnose, but she has gradually built more trust with humans. Life in a dog pack offers her security, as she does not want to be in the spotlight. She shares her life most with people who accept her as she is: reserved, content, and affectionate. However, Gola's movement apparatus causes her pain; she suffers from a balance issue that likely resulted from an untreated previous disc problem. Last year, her anatomical imbalance led to a cruciate ligament tear, which was operated on three times at the beginning of the year. The wounds have healed, but Gola still experiences bone and muscle pain, which she must endure. We were able to return a significant portion of her quality of life to her over the past three months through physiotherapy and massages. We wish for Gola an animal-loving and sensitive human who will give an older, uncomplicated spurner the chance at a proper home. Ideally, with a loving male dog or a friendly female dog. Children, birds, cats, horses, frogs, etc., are no problem for Gola. Three short walks a day, a massage unit (stroking, stroking, stroking) to relieve tension, and food are all that this wonderful being needs. And if you now have the desire to meet this pretty mouse, who at Gnadenhof was the most content and quiet female dog, please contact Mrs. Klein. The team from Klein’s Gnadenhof wishes Gola a home of her own. Our mouse has more than earned it!

About Gola

What life with Gola looks like

Gola is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Kleiner Gnadenhof e.V. in Schwaan / OT Letschow.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gola, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gola?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Kleiner Gnadenhof e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gola on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gola if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Kleiner Gnadenhof e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gola already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gola isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Kleiner Gnadenhof e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gola and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
