Goldie

Female · Senior · 9 years

female dog Goldie and her story... it's like a rollercoaster, sometimes it seems like a happy ending, then it goes down again and so on... In May 2025, her owner brought her to the vet for euthanasia, she couldn't afford the operation she already needed a week before (she had a foreign body in her intestine), at that time when she brought her in, Goldie looked on the edge of her strength... The lady doctor took her from the owner then and the rest was under the shelter's protection..... They operated on Goldie to resolve the acute problem in the intestine, she was hospitalized at the clinic in Slušovice and after a few days we were able to take her back, she slowly started eating and enjoying life again, after a few months she reached the condition necessary for another operation - there was an inflammation in the uterus, so a spaying followed. Goldie recovered quickly, but already when removing the stitches after the spaying we noticed a growing mass on the mammary gland.... Unfortunately, this meant only one thing.... another necessity for surgery, the mass had to be removed as soon as possible. At the same time, when the mastectomy was performed, the doctors took a tissue sample from the right eye, where also a mass appeared.... Goldie underwent the operation without problems again, but the histology results from the eye knocked us down again. There is a mastocytoma (tumor) in the eye. At the moment we are considering how to proceed...

About Goldie

What life with Goldie looks like

Goldie is a large senior dog waiting at Útulek Zlín-Vršava in Zlín-Zlín 12.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇿Adopting from Czech Republic

Frequently asked

Adopting Goldie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Goldie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Útulek Zlín-Vršava handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Goldie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Goldie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Útulek Zlín-Vršava will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Goldie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Goldie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Útulek Zlín-Vršava early rather than rehoming privately; they know Goldie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
