Adopt Goliat

Male · Adult · 5 years

Shy Goliat is looking for a home! Goliat is about 3-4 years old and weighs about 30 kg. He is a nice, gentle and sensitive dog who needs a calm, patient caregiver. He is very happy to see people he knows, likes to be petted and has a big weakness for treats. Goliat is still learning many things. Going out of the crate can be stressful for him, and during walks he still needs training to walk calmly on a leash. He feels best when there is a canine companion nearby - the presence of another, stable dog greatly increases his confidence. Therefore, we are looking for a home with another dog as well as a caregiver with experience who will be able to help him find his way in a new reality. An ideal home would be a quiet house on the outskirts of a city or in a quiet area, where Goliat will not be exposed to too many stimuli. The dog will require further work and support from a behaviorist to help him overcome his fears and build confidence. However, we believe that with the right support, Goliat will show how wonderful and loyal a companion he can be - a dog with great potential and a big heart. FOR adoption we ask that you have your own leash/anti-dog collar/branding. The description is written based on observations of the dog in the animal shelter. Goliat is under the care of OTOZ Animals animal shelter in Tczew. Shelter registration number: 75/25 Male is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and neutered.

Pies będzie wymagał dalszej pracy i wsparcia behawiorysty, aby pomóc mu przełamać lęki i budować pewność siebie. Kontakt w sprawie adopcji: 58 531 96 56

About Goliat

What life with Goliat looks like

Goliat is a large adult dog waiting at OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Goliat, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Goliat?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Goliat on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Goliat if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Goliat already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Goliat isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie early rather than rehoming privately; they know Goliat and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
