Adopt Gomez

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

🐾 Meet Gomez🐾 Age: 14/05/2025 Breed: Mechelse herder Gender: Male Dog Neutered: No Description: Gomez was surrendered because his owners could no longer handle the care of an energetic dog. He has coexisted with cats, and this went very well. He is comfortable at home and could stay alone at home, walking freely in the house as he did not do well in the crate. Behavior & Personality: Gomez is a lively dog with an uncertain side. At first, he is a bit wary, but once he feels comfortable, he's a real plaything. Walking goes well in quiet environments, but he does react to cars and cyclists. Therefore, busy environments are less ideal, and this is a point for improvement. He is certainly not a working dog type and more suited as a house dog, but of course, he is suitable for people with an active lifestyle. What does Gomez want? An active owner with experience. A home without small children, older children who are comfortable with dogs is possible. A meeting with a stable female is possible. Type of animal: Dog Gender: Male Age:

Soort dier: Hond Geslacht: Mannelijk Leeftijd: 14/05/2026

About Gomez

What life with Gomez looks like

Gomez is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Pootjesparadijs Dierenopvangcentrum Zemst in Belgium.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gomez, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gomez?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pootjesparadijs Dierenopvangcentrum Zemst handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gomez on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gomez if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pootjesparadijs Dierenopvangcentrum Zemst will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gomez already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gomez isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pootjesparadijs Dierenopvangcentrum Zemst early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gomez and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
