Goose (m)

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 8 years

<3 Looking for a foster home in 90579 Langenzenn <3 Goose has been in foster care since July 25, 2026. There, he lives with another dog, whom he currently seems quite happy to do without. He absorbs every bit of attention like a dry sponge soaking up water. Visits are fine with him—he remains relaxed during visits and even falls asleep once he’s had his cuddles. Otherwise, Goose guards his “territory” and occasionally barks when someone approaches the property. He’s estimated to be about 8 years old, weighs around 17 kg, stands approximately 50 cm tall, and is fully house-trained. Since day one, Goose has shown himself to be friendly and open toward people. On walks, he’s relaxed and will alert you if he senses any “danger.” So far, cyclists or joggers haven’t interested him at all. He does have a slight hunting instinct. Strangers’ dogs are usually okay for Goose, though he doesn’t like every dog. That’s why I’m currently making sure to keep a good distance from all other dogs during our walks. I get the impression that Goose likes to see himself as the “leader.” This can quickly lead to squabbles with other dogs. However, Goose needs to learn that all dogs are fine and don’t have to interest him. At home, Goose is relaxed—when something accidentally falls over or off the table, he hardly notices. He calmly avoids vacuum cleaners and brooms. He travels calmly and relaxed in a crate in the trunk of the car. At night, Goose sleeps next to the bed until morning—he’s always awake before his foster mom and wants to be cuddled right after she wakes up. To keep him relaxed, short walks around the block aren’t enough; we’re looking for adopters who enjoy taking him on longer walks, inviting him to play—and offering him a wonderful life for the second half of his life. Basically, Goose is a laid-back foreign dog—but one whose herding-dog genes, likely still present, mean he’d thrive best in a home that provides him with a secure environment where he can feel safe and free to move around. I consider Goose uncomplicated and actually suitable even for first-time dog owners—as long as those owners already have some understanding of dogs and view basic rules of cohabitation not as “nice to have,” but as essential. We haven’t yet had any experience with cats or children. But he wasn’t interested in children zooming past on scooters either. All in all, he’s a wonderful, beautiful dog. Who’s coming to visit him??? GOOSE is neutered, vaccinated, chipped, dewormed, and has passed both a Snap test and received an EU pet passport. He’ll be placed with a pre-adoption check and contract through the animal welfare organization Casa Katharina e.V. Contact: or via Facebook. All our dogs travel with official traceability documents, and of course, we also comply with legal regulations.

About Goose (m)

What life with Goose (m) looks like

Goose (m) is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Goose (m), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Goose (m)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Goose (m) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Goose (m) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Goose (m) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Goose (m) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Goose (m) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
