Adopt Gora

Female · Adult · 8 years

We took Gora from unsuitable conditions. They told us that she is a sweet and problem-free puppy. Hmm... At first, she wanted to eat the young one who was walking behind her on a walk. Then I watched her take the young one for a walk and she handled him quite well. Three guys loaded her into the car. Then she wanted to eat a child who approached the car, and also a couple of dogs. So, problem-free... No, today she is already in good condition and has no problems. Really, she doesn't. Of course, there were some meetings. Mainly with Elbrus, when I let them together, as soon as another dog approached their yard, hell broke loose. So, the result was not to leave them alone without supervision. And so they are separated when I'm at work. Gora would be suitable for a large yard as a single dog. She is reliable for guarding and if she will also go out and have enough fun, she will be a great dog. Note: this animal has shown aggressive behavior. Not suitable for homes with other dogs.

Goru sme boli zobrať z nevhodných podmienok. Bolo nám povedané. že je to milá a bezproblémová sučka. Hmmm... Ako prvé ma chcela zožrať. Potom som sledovala, ako zobrala na vychádzku mládenca, ktorý za ňou chodieval, a dobre ho vyvenčila. Traja chlapi mi ju nakladali do auta. Potom chcela zožrať dieťa, čo sa priblížilo k autu, a ešte zopár psov. Takže bezproblémová... No, dnes už je Gora v pohode a nemá problém. Naozaj nemá. Samozrejme, boli strety.

About Gora

What life with Gora looks like

Gora is a adult dog waiting at OZ Záchranný koráb in Slovakia.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇰Adopting from Slovakia

Slovak rescue groups coordinate cross-border transport with European partners. Animals are chipped and vaccinated; sterilization is often included for adults and arranged post-adoption for puppies/kittens.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. OZ Záchranný koráb handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — OZ Záchranný koráb will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with OZ Záchranný koráb early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
