Gordon

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Gordon is a lively, playful, and very people-oriented male dog from a state-run shelter in Romania. He was rescued and taken in by us from the shelter. Today, he lives with other dogs at one of our Romanian foster homes. Gordon is a very enthusiastic dog who immediately seeks contact, attention, and activity whenever someone enters his enclosure. Due to his high energy levels, he may jump up at people. Gordon simply needs guidance on how to express his joy more controlled and patiently. He is open and approachable to people, allowing himself to be touched and petted without any problems and thoroughly enjoying the attention. Gordon currently lives with two other dogs. Their cohabitation has been problem-free so far, and no unusual behavior has been observed during feeding. Gordon brings a lot of energy and joie de vivre with him. Therefore, we are looking for active people who enjoy doing things with their dog and are willing to provide him with clear and reliable guidance. Gordon needs to learn how to channel his energy in the right direction and requires people who can guide him in a friendly but consistent manner. At the same time, he needs to learn to rest and endure situations. Gordon is not familiar with life in a German household. His ability to walk on a leash has not been assessed yet. He will need to learn everyday routines, walks, environmental stimuli, and the rules of cohabitation step by step. If you are looking for a dog that is already well-trained, Gordon is probably not the right choice. However, if you enjoy learning with a young, open-minded, and active dog and showing him how to live as a family dog, you might find Gordon a great companion. Gordon is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and flea-free, and travels with an EU pet passport. He will be placed for adoption with a deposit of 495 euros after a positive preliminary inspection.

DE·Show original

About Gordon

What life with Gordon looks like

Gordon is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gordon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gordon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gordon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gordon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Gordon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gordon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gordon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
