Adopt Goya

European Shorthair · Male · Senior · 12 years

Age: born on 01/01/2013 Identification: 250 269 611 263 780 Physical characteristics: a very beautiful tabby and white cat. Tested negative for FeLV/FIV, vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. Personality: Goya is a beautiful 12-year-old cat who embodies elegance and character. Used to great freedom, he remains quite independent and enjoys his autonomy. He is not a cat that will stick to you, but he will show his affection in his own way and at his chosen times with cuddles, purrs, and conversations punctuated by meows (particularly if it involves food). Excellent hunter, Goya would be fulfilled with access to a secure outdoor area or enough space for him to thrive at his own pace, always in a place of his choice, in complete tranquility. Health: having been diagnosed with arthritis, Goya must remain on a specific diet. Background: entrusted to the association as his owner could no longer keep him. Ideal placement: in a responsible, calm household without young children and without another cat. Contact: animal available in foster care in Paris. Contact Marie-Pierre after 6 pm and on weekends, by email or via the web form.

About Goya

What life with Goya looks like

Goya is a large senior european shorthair cat waiting at Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 in Paris.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Goya, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Goya?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Goya on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Goya if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Goya already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Goya isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 early rather than rehoming privately; they know Goya and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
