Graf

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Male · Adult · 8 years

Graf – sensitive powerhouse with a big heart seeks experienced home Graf came to us through a seizure due to a violation of the animal protection law. In the past months, he has developed well and shows how willing to learn and people-oriented he can be – if given the right guidance, patience, and a safe environment. However, he brings a lot of "packages" with him and therefore needs a dog-experienced home away from the city hustle. What sets me apart: I walk well on a leash when led properly – even around people or other dogs. My biggest problem is my low frustration tolerance – although I have made some progress in patience, there is still a lot of room for improvement. I love my trusted people, cuddle very much, and work motivated, especially when food is involved. Under too much pressure or manipulation, I become insecure – you should be safe in handling dogs, with muzzles, harnesses, and leashes, and be able to read my body language well. I can perform basic commands and enjoy a lot of fun during outdoor training. I am accustomed to wearing a muzzle, which I will continue to need in many situations. In dog groups, I can walk calmly. I love to bathe – it is a real highlight for me. What I need to work on: I have severe separation anxiety and cannot be left alone at the moment. In stressful or overstimulating situations, I can react with jumping or aggression – you need to be able to handle this. I need step-by-step training to feel safe in a new home, especially when it comes to being left alone. At first, I need a clearly separated quiet area inside (e.g., with a baby gate), where I can retreat. I should not live with other dogs – even though I can walk calmly in the group. Hunting imitation games (e.g., ball throwing) are taboo for me, as they significantly increase my stress, and I can no longer regulate myself. Urban environments are not for me – I need peace and structure. It will take several visits to the animal shelter before I trust you. What I am looking for: A home outside of Berlin – in a quiet, rural environment, preferably with a securely fenced yard. Experienced people who are familiar with sensitive, breed-specific behavioral patterns. No children, no other pets in the household. People who can dedicate a lot of time to me at the beginning and do not leave me alone. Empathetic, consistent people with a lot of patience

About Graf

What life with Graf looks like

Graf is a medium-sized adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg in Berlin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Severe separation anxiety, requires muzzle training, cannot be left alone, needs gradual training and secure environment away from city noise

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Graf, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Graf?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Graf on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Graf if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Graf already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Graf isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Graf and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
