Gray

Mixed Breed Cat · Male

Age: 1 year. 🐾Meet gorgeous Gray🐾 — Sean Bean on his papers and quite possibly the most handsome dark grey tabby you’ll ever meet! 🩶 Gray is still finding his confidence. He’ll happily sniff your hand, but he isn’t quite ready for strokes and cuddles just yet. What he really needs is someone experienced with cats who understands that trust takes time and is happy to let him set the pace. Thankfully, Gray has his best friend Fred by his side. Fred is a ginger boy with a much bigger personality — a real little tart! Their bond is lovely to see, and we’d very much like them to find a home together. Fred’s confident character should help bring Gray out of his shell. Together, they’re looking for a patient, understanding family who will give them the time they need to settle in before expecting lots of hugs. In return, you’ll have the wonderful experience of watching two lovely cats gradually learn that people can be trusted. They’ll need:🐾 A home with a secure, safe garden, well away from busy/main roads🐾 An experienced cat person who is happy to continue Gray’s socialising🐾 Patience and understanding while they settle in🐾 No dogs, as they haven’t been dog tested🐾 They’d suit a family with older children who understand that these boys need space and time, rather than very young children wanting lots of cuddles straight away If you’re the sort of person who knows that the best relationships are sometimes built slowly in Gray’s case; him and Fred could be the pair for you. ❤️

About Gray

What life with Gray looks like

Gray is a adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Compassion for Cats, Oakhill CIO in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gray, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gray?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Compassion for Cats, Oakhill CIO handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gray on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gray if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Compassion for Cats, Oakhill CIO will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gray already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gray isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Compassion for Cats, Oakhill CIO early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gray and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
