adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Grazia has found her forever home! Her story: Here waits the approximately 7-year-old Grazia, hoping for the beginning of a better life. She has already endured much. Her story began tragically when she and her kittens were found on the street. In a rainy night, they were discovered at a veterinarian's practice. Unfortunately, the kittens did not survive the hardships, and the mother cat suffered from a severe cold for weeks. Despite her difficult past, Grazia has developed into a lovable creature. At first, she was a bit shy, but she quickly warms up when she gains trust. She then enjoys cuddles and even seeks out the company of people. In the house, she behaves quietly and well-mannered. The loving tenant cat gets along well with fellow animals and should therefore live in a household with other cats. Whether she also gets along with dogs is not yet known. Unfortunately, Grazia is FIV positive, which means only apartment living is suitable for her. FIV is a viral infection that can lead to a weakening of the immune system. However, this is no reason not to adopt her. FIV-positive cats can, just like FIV-negative cats, reach a ripe old age. The virus is exclusively transmissible to cats; humans and other animals cannot contract it. An FIV-positive cat can even live with a FIV-negative cat as long as there are no bloody altercations. Before this lovable cat can move into her new home, she needs to gain a bit of weight and will then be spayed. Grazia eagerly awaits the chance to become part of a loving family. The sweet mouse will be spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas before her journey, just like all our cats and tomcats. She will also bring her EU pet passport in her travel bag.

About Grazia

What life with Grazia looks like

Grazia is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Grazia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Grazia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Grazia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Grazia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Grazia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Grazia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Grazia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
