Unfortunately, killing is still happening there, so we've housed Gretel in a private shelter in the hope of finding her a nice home. She is now in safety and hopes to have the chance to travel to a family of her own! Gretel is estimated to be around 10 years old and has a medium size of about 56 cm and 30 kg. She was initially reserved and shy. But our helpers on site discovered Gretel's hidden passion: food and treats! With these, they could lure her and earn her trust. Now, Gretel can be touched, but she is still unsure – especially outside the enclosure. She can be led with a harness and leash with much patience, but it still stresses her. At her age, Gretel is not very active anymore and is a more laid-back female dog. It is likely that her hind leg was once caught in a wire snare. X-rays show that she carries a wound from this that is no longer repairable. The wound led to the knuckling of tendons and ligaments. As can be seen on the gait image, but it does not hinder her from leading a normal life. She will of course not be a high-impact athlete anymore, but that is not necessary due to her age. Currently, she is still being operated on due to a bilateral patellar luxation. Wherever Gretel came from – she had a tough life. Now it's time for Gretel to experience the sunny sides of life. For that, we are looking for empathetic people who do not expect too much from the fun female dog with the funny ears. She wants to be led into a life she has not experienced yet. She gets along well with other dogs, so she can happily live in a multiple-dog household. An appropriate dog life, with her own dog bed and people who take care of her and go for peaceful nature walks with her when she is ready. It may take Gretel some time to settle in. Fingerspitzengefühl and patience are needed to make Gretel happy! Our Gretel is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea treated. Ihre Geschichte: Unsere Gretel wurde aus dem öffentlichen Shelter in Zalau gerettet. Hier wird leider noch immer getötet und daher haben wir Gretel in einem privaten Shelter untergebracht, um nun hoffentlich noch einen schönen Platz für sie zu finden. Hier ist sie in Sicherheit und hofft sehr, dass sie noch einmal das Glück hat, um ihre Reise in eine eigene Familie anzutreten! Gretel wird auf etwa 10 Jahre geschätzt und hat mit ca. 56 cm und 30 kg eine mittlere Größe. Sie war anfangs zurückhaltend und schüchtern. Aber Gretel hat eine heimliche Leidenschaft, wie unsere Helfer:innen vor Ort rausfinden konnten: Futter und Leckerlies! Damit konnte man sie gut locken und sie haben ihr Vertrauen gewinnen können. Gretel lässt sich nun anfassen, ist aber noch unsicher – vor allem außerhalb des Zwingers. Geschirr und Leine kann man ihr mit viel Geduld umlegen, stressen sie aber noch. Ihrem Alter entsprechend ist Gretel nicht mehr allzu aktiv und eine ruhigere Hündin. Vermutlich wurde war ihr Hinterbein mal in einer Drahtschlinge gefangen. Röntgenbilder haben ergeben, dass sie davon eine Verletzung von sich getragen hat, die nicht mehr reparabel ist. Die Verletzung führte zu Verknöcherung der Sehnen und Bänder. Am Gangbild sieht man das – aber es hindert sie nicht, ein normales Leben damit zu führen. Hochleitsungssportlerin wird sie natürlich nicht mehr, aber das ist ja schon aufgrund ihres Alters nicht mehr notwendig. Aktuell wird sie noch wegen eines bilateralen Leistenbruchs operiert. Wo auch immer Gretel herkommt – sie hatte kein einfaches Leben. Nun ist es an der Zeit, Gretel die Sonnenseiten des Lebens kennenlernen darf. Dafür suchen wir empathische Menschen, die nicht zu viel von der tollen Hündin mit den lustigen Ohren erwarten. Behutsam möchte sie in ein Leben geführt werden, dass sie bisher nicht kennenlernen durfte. Mit anderen Hunden versteht sie sich gut, sie kann also gerne in einen Mehrhundehausehalt. Ein artgerechtes Hundeleben, mit einem eigenen Körbchen und Menschen die sie umsorgen und mit ihr gemütliche Spaziergänge in der Natur unternehmen, wenn Gretel soweit ist. Es kann sein, dass Gretel anfangs noch Zeit braucht um sich einzuleben. Fingerspitzengefühl und Geduld sind hier gefragt um Gretel glücklich machen zu können! Unsere Gretel ist kastriert, gechipt, geimpft, entwurmt und entfloht. Sie bringt einen EU-Heimtierausweis mit und kann nach positiver Vorkontrolle auf einen Gnadenplatz in ihr neues Leben reisen.
