Gretta (Гретта)

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP, THE REQUIRED AMOUNT HAS BEEN COLLECTED !! Obviously the dog was injured by a car, for four days it lay in the cold without help, until it was taken by volunteers animal shelter partner "Give me a paw, friend". Gretta was taken to the clinic, where an X-ray was done and a spinal fracture was diagnosed. There are many wounds on the body, also the tail was severely injured. The first days they did not even give the puppy a name, as the chances of survival were very low. But - Gretta turned out to be a real fighter. She is fighting for her life and we simply have to give her a chance to live! Gretta underwent surgery for tail amputation, since the entire tail was in deep wounds, everything was infected, because Gretta was lying and walking on her own, it was decided to remove the tail, to make the care of the dog more quality, there is still a problem with the broken paw ... Gretta requires 3-4 large diapers every day, medicine and antibiotics, as well as procedures to clean the pus that accumulates in the wounds. Unfortunately, the dog will remain an invalid for life, a paraplegic, but she still has a chance at life, and later on, at a loving family. The foundation hopes for a quicker improvement in Gretta's condition, and her rehabilitation, after treatment. Treatment for Gretta costs 10000 hryvnias.

About Gretta (Гретта)

What life with Gretta (Гретта) looks like

Gretta (Гретта) is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Happy Paw Zaporizhzhia in Ukraine.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇺🇦Adopting from Ukraine

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gretta (Гретта), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gretta (Гретта)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Happy Paw Zaporizhzhia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gretta (Гретта) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gretta (Гретта) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Happy Paw Zaporizhzhia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gretta (Гретта) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gretta (Гретта) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Happy Paw Zaporizhzhia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gretta (Гретта) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (UK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
