adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Grimm can stay forever in his foster home! His story: Grimm waits, like so many others here, for his forever home. We know nothing about his past. He was also brought to the public shelter of Baia Mare by the dog catchers one day. Sadly, he now belongs to the long-term residents at the shelter, which we simply don't understand. Grimm is estimated to be around 11 years old and has a shoulder height of about 60 cm. Grimm needs grooming urgently. His fur is dirty, heavy, and matted. This is of course uncomfortable and sometimes painful for him. Grimm can be touched willingly, but not everywhere. At some points, touches are so uncomfortable or perhaps even painful for him that he shows this by snapping. We hope that changes once Grimm is shaved and feels more comfortable in his skin. Grimm can, however, be easily distracted with treats. Grimm has a healthy appetite, but due to lack of movement, he has a few extra pounds on his ribs, which need to come off. With his fellow animals, Grimm gets along well. We are looking for empathetic dog-experienced people who are familiar with the body language of the dog. We assume that Grimm has never lived in a household. Therefore, Grimm needs loving people who can patiently teach him the basics of being a dog. Throughout this process, Grimm sets the pace entirely and must not be pushed into anything.

About Grimm

What life with Grimm looks like

Grimm is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Grimm, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Grimm?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Grimm on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Grimm if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Grimm already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Grimm isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Grimm and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
