Guindilla

Podenco · Male · Adult · 7 years

Lovely Podenco mixed breed Guindilla is searching for his permanent place! Guindilla was allowed to leave the Spanish animal shelter to travel to a foster home in Germany. Upon arrival, Guindilla immediately presented his giant dog heart. Despite his likely troubled past, Guindilla has managed to preserve his love for humans. The handsome Guindilla shows himself at the foster home as a friendly, interested, and lovable companion. He loves the closeness and any attention he receives. Guindilla is a cuddly bear who enjoys cuddles and trusts his trusted people. Attentively and interestedly, he observes his people, everything they do, and simply wishes to belong. He is house-trained and sleeps through the nights. Overall, Guindilla is a pleasant and calm companion in everyday life. In the household, Guindilla settles well and sleeps relaxed on his lying spots. The wonderful heart dog adapts well to daily routines and doesn't cause any trouble. At the foster home, he lives with another dog and shows himself as socially compatible with his fellow animals. For Guindilla, we are now searching for a permanent and loving home. He wishes for people by his side who will love him, give him time, and attention. But also the joy of shared activities and long walks should be present. All further development steps can be taken in everyday interactions. Adopting a shelter dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also be a challenge. The dogs bring a backpack of past experiences or unlearned situations with them and need time to adjust to their new life. You are aware of the special responsibility and have serious interest in adopting Guindilla, then please contact the responsible mediator. The contact details are found further below.

Liebenswerter Podenco Mischling Guindilla sucht seinen Platz!

About Guindilla

What life with Guindilla looks like

Guindilla is a adult podenco dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Guindilla, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Guindilla?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Guindilla on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Guindilla if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Guindilla already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Guindilla isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Guindilla and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
