Gundel

Female · Adult · 4 years

31.10.2025: Our Gundel is now venturing closer to us more often, showing a lot of potential. One just needs to give her enough time to settle in. 09.2025: Gundel was wandering through a Bonn suburb and no owner could be found. When she found her way to us, she was already heavily pregnant. She and her 6 kittens were taken in by a foster home and lovingly cared for until they were old enough to stand on their own. Gundel has raised her kittens well and has now completed her own veterinary program. Now, Gundel is expanding the cat community with her own garden. She is currently neutral towards fellow animals and will surely get used to people here, as cooked chicken is now being used as a reward. And Gundel is carefully observing how to get to the chicken. She is still reserved and cautious; perhaps she didn't always have the best experiences with people at her previous home. The intensive care program has started, and we will soon provide an update, as Gundel has a lot of potential to develop further. We will also observe how well she gets along with fellow animals.

About Gundel

What life with Gundel looks like

Gundel is a adult cat waiting at Tierheim Bonn in Bonn.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gundel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gundel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Bonn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gundel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gundel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Bonn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gundel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gundel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Bonn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gundel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
