Gustav der Wilde

Male · Young · 3 years

Gustav der Wilde is looking for a place in a shed or similar. Again and again, cats come to us that are not used to human contact and are looking for a new place where they can find food and a weatherproof shelter. It is important to know that these cats are not tame animals and therefore are not looking for a place on the couch. If you have a shed that is almost no longer used or maybe a farm with a barn, please contact us! You are also welcome to contact the Lüneburg Cat Shelter directly. It can be found on Facebook and Instagram, as well as on our homepage under Lüneburg Cat Shelter. Gustav der Wilde came to us as a found animal and is currently very shy. He quickly panics when he is near people and withdraws. When threatened, he reacts with defensive behavior. For Gustav der Wilde, we wish him a place at a supervised feeding station where he can live at his own pace, without having to meet expectations and yet be reliably provided for. We are always looking for sponsorships for our free-living cats. Many of the free-living cats are voluntarily supported at feeding stations, which we support with food donations. We are therefore grateful for any support! You can download the form here and bring it filled out: Consent Declaration

About Gustav der Wilde

What life with Gustav der Wilde looks like

Gustav der Wilde is a young adult dog waiting at Tierheim Lüneburg in Lueneburg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gustav der Wilde, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gustav der Wilde?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Lüneburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gustav der Wilde on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gustav der Wilde if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Lüneburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gustav der Wilde already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gustav der Wilde isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Lüneburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gustav der Wilde and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
