adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Habibi has found its home! Her story: One look and you can't resist. Habibi, the name is program. Habibi comes from Arabic and means "Treasure, Darling." Our little treasure is a real ray of sunshine. Habibi was found by Andras by the roadside. The little mouse was probably abandoned there, completely overwhelmed by the situation, even too excited to bark. Now she lives in Zalau in a private foster home. With new people, she needs some time to build trust, but she barks every now and then. But after a few minutes, especially with the use of treats, she relaxes very quickly and immediately seeks affection. She already runs quite well on the leash and is almost house-trained. She is very balanced and naturally puppy-like in her playfulness. Habibi gets along well with other dogs and currently lives with five cats. She currently weighs 6.5 kg and is 40 cm tall. She will probably grow a little more but will stay medium-sized. To her good fortune, Habibi now only needs her forever home. There, she would like to settle down first, because the new environment and the long journey will certainly unsettle her at the beginning. But then: Habibi looks forward to many adventures in nature. She would like to be physically and mentally challenged. She would also like to attend dog training classes, because although she has already learned a lot, there is still plenty of room for improvement. At the beginning, some mishaps should be forgiven. Like all puppies, Habibi should not be left alone in the first year, because she still has to learn that, too. And of course, there is also puberty, during which the synapses in the brain play tricks and everything learned is questioned. But it is only a phase, and together you will overcome the situation with lots of love, consistency, and a dash of humor. Habibi can start her big journey at any time. She is microchipped, vaccinated, treated for fleas, and dewormed. She also has her EU pet passport already packed. She is also happy to have a foster home. Habibi was named by many thanks to Silke P.! You gave Habibi its name. As of: 08.06.

Vielen Dank Silke P.! Du hast Habibi ihren Namen geschenkt. Stand: 08.06.2024

About Habibi

What life with Habibi looks like

Habibi is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Habibi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Habibi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Habibi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Habibi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Habibi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Habibi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Habibi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
