Hachiko

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Hachiko is one of many dogs that came to the animal shelter from an intervention. From the very beginning, he didn't have an easy start in life... Lack of socialization, appropriate conditions, and lots of dogs around. This was his life before the animal shelter. It took a long time to gain his minimal trust... He was afraid of everything and everyone. After a long time, he slowly started to stick his head out of his kennel, then became more curious and began to walk between volunteers in a divine way to eat treats from their hands. Hachiko was the most open dog in his kennel. He was moved to a person's kennel after biting his ear. He bravely endured the treatment of his ear. Alone in the kennel, he opened up more. Now everything interests him, he is curious, but still unsure of himself. He is afraid of new people and fast, sudden movements. Work on his trust is ongoing, therefore we are looking for a responsible and experienced home for a shy dog. He needs time, calmness and understanding. Born in 2018. Vaccinated, microchipped, neutered.

Hachiko to jeden z wielu psiaków, które trafiły do schroniska z interwencji. Już od samego początku nie miał łatwego startu w życiu… Brak socjalizacji, odpowiednich warunków i mnóstwo psów wokół. On potrzebuje czasu, spokoju i wyrozumienia. Ur. 2018r Zaszczepiony, zaczipowany, wykastrowany. Kontakt: 533 564 074

About Hachiko

What life with Hachiko looks like

Hachiko is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Radom in Radom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hachiko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hachiko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Radom handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hachiko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hachiko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Radom will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hachiko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hachiko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Radom early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hachiko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
