Hade

Mixed Breed · Female

Hade is a gentle, small Podenca about three years old, with her 40cm shoulder height and around 13 kilograms she has a fine build. Red nose, bat ears, an alert nature - Hade is a Podenco lady from the textbook. These dogs are sensitive, attentive, active and often very subtle in their communication. They perceive their surroundings accurately, react to moods and need people who give them time to let trust grow. Who knows a Podenco, knows that behind their sometimes cautious nature lies a clever, lively and very lovable dog. Hade's life so far has been sad and above all very barren. She lived together with Milo and other dogs locked in a dirty patio. Such an environment leaves its mark, especially on such sensitive dogs. That Hade still shows fear towards people is therefore understandable. She needs calm companionship, patience and a daily routine that gives her security. At the same time it becomes clear at Dolmen Animal's animal shelter that she is quite able to adapt to the new environment and contact with humans. She is cheerful, playful and active, interested in the animal shelter life and has discovered her joie de vivre. Now all these things need a home where they can continue to grow in a reliable, trusting framework. Hade gets along very well with other dogs. She lives problem-free together with them and orients herself towards them. A confident, friendly dog in the new home could help her better understand everyday life and build trust in people. There is currently no reliable information on her compatibility with cats and children, so this should be carefully checked if interested. Podencos were originally bred for hunting. They often have a strong hunting instinct, a lot of endurance and a great independence. That's why Hade needs people who enjoy joint walks, safe management and loving, clear leadership. Free running is usually only possible with Podencos after very careful training and only in securely fenced areas. At the same time, Podencos are often pleasant, gentle and unobtrusive at home if they understand and get enough exercise and mental stimulation. We wish Hade a quiet, dog-experienced home that takes her history seriously and does not pressure her. People who accept that closeness cannot be demanded but must arise and grow will discover in her an affectionate friend. Hade is no puppy who immediately accepts everything and can do it. But she is a young Podenca who has remained friendly, lively and adaptable despite a difficult start. Who gives her protection, patience and consistency, gives her the chance to finally arrive and show how much trust and joie de vivre is in her.

DE·Show original

About Hade

What life with Hade looks like

Hade is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hade, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hade?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hade on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hade if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hade already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hade isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hade and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
