Adopt Haiduc der Große

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

🤎 Haiduc – a heart on four legs seeks its second chance 🤎 When Haiduc was found, he was hardly recognizable. A large, proud heart in the body of a dog that had been too long unseen. An ingrown band had choked his neck – probably since his youth. His fur had become a hard, matted armor. Care? Love? Affection? These he had long forgotten. But then he came to our intake station ASIPA in Romania. There he was immediately operated on and freed from the painful band. Since then, a new chapter begins for Haiduc. A chapter in which he feels for the first time that his life has value. 🧡 Haiduc enjoys every bit of attention – perhaps the first real affection in his life.______ 🐾 Who is Haiduc? Haiduc is a herdsman dog-mix, approximately 60 cm tall, neutered – a calm, content male dog who needs time to understand new things. His mission? To watch. To protect. To be loyal. For this reason, we are looking for a home with plenty of space and an escape-proof garden – a place where he feels safe and can live up to his role.______ 💛 What he still needs to learn So far, Haiduc has known no warm home. He still has much to learn: • House training • Leash manners • Everyday family rules But he learns eagerly – at his own pace. All he needs are people who show him that trust is worth it. Haiduc will be rehomed after he is fully vaccinated and microchipped and has an EU health certificate. If you want to give him a home, we look forward to your message. About Haiduc der Große

What life with Haiduc der Große looks like

Haiduc der Große is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Step by Paw e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Haiduc der Große, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Haiduc der Große?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Step by Paw e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Haiduc der Große on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Haiduc der Große if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Step by Paw e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Haiduc der Große already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Haiduc der Große isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Step by Paw e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Haiduc der Große and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
