adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Hamilton has found a home! His story: The beautiful, white Hamilton with the long, soft fur has been waiting in the stray shelter for a family for a very long time. Although he is such a great guy! He has developed really well and is simply a friendly and very social dog who gets along with all living beings. A life on a farm with many animals would be a lot of fun for Hamilton. But he also loves other dogs and gets along well with both male and female dogs. In the stray shelter, he looks forward to the chickens, donkeys, goats, or horses he meets on his walks. He greets everyone and is always polite to all living beings. Hamilton gets along well with his pen mates. Hamilton learns something new every day and finds everything exciting, being very curious and open. One can see that he really enjoys his walks and grins the whole time. Hamilton looks simply beautiful and wins hearts with his slightly shy demeanor. He loves to cuddle and could be groomed for hours. It is likely that the great, white giant is a herding dog mix, which is why we are looking for people who are ideally familiar with this type of dog and can provide the optimal conditions. Visually, he resembles a Golden Retriever. A rural home with an enclosed yard would be perfect for Hamilton. Originally, Hamilton came from Bistrita, Romania. Hamilton was a cute little puppy in the public shelter in Bistrita. Unfortunately, he was always overlooked, even though he was such a pretty little guy with his snow-white fur and dark brown eyes. Unfortunately, it never worked out with a family. By now, Hamilton is about 2 years old. For Hamilton, we wish for a patient, friendly, and loving relationship with people who have no expectations of him. Children should already be older and know how to handle dogs with respect and responsibility. He should always be allowed to set his own pace and be able to decide what is doable for him or not.

About Hamilton

What life with Hamilton looks like

Hamilton is a extra-large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hamilton, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hamilton?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hamilton on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hamilton if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hamilton already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hamilton isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hamilton and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
